CAPTURED LANDSCAPE

The project brings to attention the remodeling of the connection between human and his environment, negotiating the human-nature relationship, for better self-knowledge. The perception of the environment through the human eye can appear in different forms of several interpretations. “|Captured Landscape”| discusses the variety of possible images for these environmental interpretations. The human eye perceives reality in the brain, depending on all the images he has seen throughout his life. When looking at a remote image, we tend to simplify what we see in great forms, ignoring the nature of the objects themselves. This mental retouching, this creative process that we make unconsciously and instinctively, has its source in all the images ever seen, stored in memory. The broad picture base, which is available to us mentally, could define us as individuals. A first source of inspiration for this project was the urban landscape in Bucharest, more precisely those abandoned buildings over which nature begins to grow, sometimes almost swallowing them. These buildings, many of them national monuments, hide the stories of several generations and talk about more people at the same time. In fact, they have stored information about what surrounds them, just like people do.
