For Art Factory's second edition we're taking a trip to CAMEXIP Industries in the city of Băicoi, Prahova county, between the 2nd and 4th of September.
Together with this year's partners, Arkadia Cultural Association, we're preparing three days of exhibition and workshops in the halls of CAMEXIP FACTORIES (Republicii Street, No. 9, Băicoi) in the vecinity of the short film festival Arkadia Shortfest, which will take place in the same period of time.
Art Factory is a pop-up gallery and contemporary art festival intended to raise awareness regarding the destiny of patrimony edifices left in the hands of time and the abandoned industrial spaces. “Art Factory” seeks to (re)activate abandoned sites by organizing cultural events meant to reinstate or temporarily revive these passive spaces that are certainly at risk of disappearing. Thus, we are trying to bring them back into community's circuit by temporarily converting them into cultural centers of interest.
The core values of this project are creative dialogue, non-formal education, social involvement of youth and raising awareness towards the current problems of the urban areas. We believe in promoting these values and in the benefits they bring to society, especially through artistic means.
Man, in the attempt of finding his own identity and place in the world, shapes it, shapes himself and he shapes others. In this process he leaves traces upon his environment, his kin and himself. One of the means of negotiating man's relationship with its surroundings is drawing, which becomes in this case a tool of self-discovery. The exhibition we are displaying as part of Art Factory follows the trails man leaves in this process of self-inquiry.
