RĂZVAN HOGEA

INPUT | OUTPUT

The works in the ‘Input | Output’ series deal with the unexpected back-and-forth of human relationships and about the emotional consequences felt by those involved. I wanted to describe this vexing dynamic by inviting the audience to participate in the creation of the works. These have particular names because they represent specific feelings and interactions: love, misunderstanding, stubbornness, euphoria and revolt. The idea started with me wanting to develop an interactive project that would fit the context of a festival. As I work mainly with drawing, an installation was not the best solution for me so I chose to employ my knowledge of web development. The online form and the algorithm that determines the coordinates and characteristics of the images move some of the decision making away from me and give the user joint custody in creating the works. From the beginning, the principle was that a collaborator should be able to overwrite my decisions: placement, size, colour and even the images used to construct the final work. The creation of these works is a process with multiple parts of directions, estimations and two-way interpretation.
